At long last Boulder final will have its very own Velodrome. Next Tuesday the track is scheduled for completion and will be opening soon after Thanksgiving (Dec. 1st) So get that new track bike you have been eyeing so you look supper awesome on the first day and avoid the winter blues when the weather finally drops back down from this 80 degree day to the mid twenty’s.

Picture Rock TrailGrand Opening Event! will take place September 22, 2008 starting at 4pm at Heil Parking Lot

At long last the Heil-Hall Connector Trail is complete. The six miles of new trail will save many mountain bikers from the ominous prospect of road riding. This single trail will bypass the ten miles of pavement between Heil and Hall, two of the Boulder area’s most popular trails. Additionally, this trail nearly doubles the amount of cycling trails in Boulder.

So, be sure to thank The Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance for this amazing cure to the road biking epidemic.

The office morale has been down due to the recent departure of our little boy intern. His reason's for leaving were very apparent his last few weeks here, he had to go back to school. Since this point employees have felt confused, angry, and lost just to name a few. However, as a company we must move on and in order to not dwell on the past we will leave you with this picture that captures the feeling arround the office when Ryan was around... And we will close this chapter of Ryan with a simple Thank You.... Thank You Ryan.

Ok so you might of heard the rumors and yes, it does look like there is going to be a new Velodrome in Boulder. More specifically, it will be around Pearl and Foot Hills. This awesome addition to the Boulder Cycling scene is projected to open in early Sept.

Valmont Bike Park

The Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance is always working towards opening new trails for all you avid mountain bikers. As the Heil-Hall connector trail wraps up, BMA is already looking ahead to new trails around Betasso and a Valmont Bike Park which will consist of jumps, ladders, and who knows what else.

This group of local riders can’t do it alone. So get out there and give back to the sport we all love with a little sweat, to make Boulder more mountain bike friendly.

The morale is a little low around the office today because we all tried to go to the Journey concert in Denver last night, however due to their popularity the concert was all sold out. For those of you that do not know Journey is an American rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1973, which has sold more than 100 billion albums.

Due to Journey’s profound impact on our boy intern Ryan's upbringing, he was hysterical when he found out that he couldn’t go.

Team Slipstream

Our very own have entered the realm of super human! No, I don’t mean Jon (or at last not yet) but the Boulder based cycling team, Team Slipstream, now know as Team German Chipotle. Participating in the Tour de France for the first time, they have left behind their old Blue and Orange argyle kits for more a more traditional Blue and white.

But despite their bland uniforms they are tearing up their first tour: David Miller is in 3^rd over all after day 5 and the whole team is in 1^st in the Team Race. So keep your eyes on this new team as they tear up the Tour and proudly represent Boulder.

National Trails Day was a huge success.

Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance pulled together 217 volunteers to build 8400 feet of trail out at Heil Ranch. This giant section of trail almost completes the Heil/Hall connector trail and moves up the scheduled opening by weeks. BMA is also planning a lot of group rides; so join in and enjoy these awesome trails.

Summer Short Track

You know its summer when the CU Cycling Short Track Series starts up at the research park.

These races are every Wednesday evening starting June 4^th going till August 6^th. You can register up to 20min before your race. So where that spandex under your suit and then rip it off running to the research park to save time like superman heading out for a night on the town.

4:45 p.m. - Registration begins
5:15 p.m. - Women's B and Juniors (20 minutes)
5:40 p.m. - Men's C (20 min)
6:05 p.m. - Men's B (25 min)
6:35 p.m. - Women's A (30 min)

Teva Mountain Games

This weekend, June 5th-8th in Vail, Colorado will be the Teva Mountain Games.
There will be events in everything from a dirt jump competition, to a Speed rock climbing, Paragliding, Speed Retrieve dog competition. In all of these events The Randall Scott Crew will be representin strong.

On dirt jumps we will have Nick.

On Paragliding we will have our very own one of a kind Jon.

And in Speed Retrieve dog competition we will have my dog: Eagle Dog.

Should be a shoe in for the weekend but there are vicious rumors of an apearance by Air Bud.

Primal Quest Montana 2008

With a little under a month until Primal Quest Montana 2008 teams from around the world are doing final preparations for a week long non stop suffer fest in Big Sky Montana.

Teams will travel under there own power over hundreds of miles and 100,000 feet of elevation gain with little to no sleep, hallucinating that they see Bolder Body Jon From Randall Scott behind every tree.

Teams of 4 will move through the night with the majority of their time running, biking, and kayaking. Check out the 06 opening ceremonies video From Primal Quest Utah.

Lyons Outdoor Games

This weekend, 5/30 - 6/1 in Lyons Colorado (Just 15 mins. north of us) will be the Lyons Outdoor Games.

“Warning Extreme Sarcasm”

So it seems these days that everybody and their mother is hoping on a fixie, and then being promptly thrown off when they try and leave their leg down and coast. It seems that all you need to claim OG status is to have ridden your sweet new Tommaso Augusta. Now, the previous sentence may lead readers to believe we're not down with the recent surge in popularity and riders, but we're not haters, we just want to hand out some tips for all the noobs so you can ride with confidence. First remember Flashier Is Better. Custom paint jobs, ridiculously expensive wheels (preferably with custom paint jobs. see pic), and Diamond encrusted handlebars are all in. Big time.

Second arrogance is key. If Roadies or other Fixie riders check you out, flash them a condescending look at their bike and look away, it's what they're gonna do to you. Lastly, forget what you think you know about Track bikes being built for speed, going fast and being able to stop are overrated and pase. Seriously what fun is fast? Flatland is the wave of the future. You aren't a fixie rider until you can do a backwards circle with one foot and no hands into a straight back flip.

So armed with these new rules of the street fixie culture, go forth and be cool. Cause thats what it’s all about, right? right?.... OK so that was all a bit sarcastic, sorry. Seriously though, just ride fast, ride safe, give props, and have fun.

To celebrate BMX's move into the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, Nike 6.0 Celebrated in Bejing last week with The Lightening Bolts Art Show and BMX exhibition.

Nike honored Bob Haro, recreating his famous number plate as an artists canvas.

Props to Nike for honoring a bike legend such a Bob Haro.

This Thursday 4/3 at the Boulder Theater we will be attending the 2nd annual Global Warming Expo. "Which is a cultural phenomenon that blends entertainment, art, science, business and politics. Last weekend, our accountant Clint took a little R & R on the Winter Park Ski Train* with the annual FedEx/Randall Scott Ski trip. For the Front Range, I-70, is the common man's only means for a weekend ski vacation; Clint however, had enough foresight to plan his trip years in advance to bypass its closure and be among the select few to enjoy the fruits of the Colorado wilderness.

*On the train everyone was allotted a 30 pack of beer.

Clint, again, having the foresight to bring his helmet that he picked up from the Star Wars Gala at the LA Convention Center in '92.

The day proved to be action packed with light conversation, sight seeing,and freestyle ski jumps.

The Randall Scott team made its presence known at the Annual "Boulder Cup" Cycle Cross race last Sunday. The crew showed up, dirt bike and all, to support Cat. 2 Team Rider Ryan Parker. The only problem was that Ryan had about a 30 pack the night before and missed the race. Due to the presence of the Boulder Police Department, the decision was made not to race in fear of a BUI(Biking under the influence.) To make up for it we added our own lille flair: The "Boulder Cup's" First tattoo parlor.

With progressions in modern science in laser removal surgery, Brett has the option to not be amazing for the rest of his life.

The dirt bike scared some of the other teams. We also had Frisbees and sunglasses for their women and children.

Last weekend Randall Scotts own bean counter, Clint represented at the 19th Annual Denver Veloswap. Part accountant, part bike mechanic, part omnipotent observer; Clint, put his ear to the pavement. So upon his return, we asked him the age old question, what was hot and what was not at Veloswap this year?
Unexpected of the question, his knee jerk reaction was: "Me!"

Last Thursday, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary art held its annual art auction entitled “Hot Art.” Falling into Hot Art this year was Randall Scott’s own Tommasso Augusta. In order to pay homage to all the support the museum has given us, the Augusta donation was able to raise $650.00 for this local non profit. There is talk that the museum will use the funds for an expansion of their complex in the upcoming year. Not only was the bike a hit amongst the auction attendants, the artisans and Randall discussed the future of art and sport. Through this, a plan was hatched to feature local artists in art/bike collaborations. We will keep you posted with updates of this endeavor and let you know what you can do to participate. Here are a few pictures of Randal and I dressing the nicest we have dressed since our double date with the Olsen twins. (We broke up with them.)

The lone wolf

We want to thank the National Breast Cancer Foundation INC. for there support with our inaugural Bikini Bike Wash. All week there was a buzz with people coming into the showroom asking when the festivities would begin. On Saturday 8/25 the stars were in line for the gnarlyst Saturday afternoon that anyone has seen since 84’ when Sammy Hagar announced his departure from Van Halen to peruse a softer brand of rock that would eventually penetrate women’s souls across the world. Don't believe us? ...well here are the pictures.

The photographer asked for the girls to be posed in front of Scott’s lower half to add an element of class and cover up his jean shorts.

After the wash the girls sat down with Randall to discuss e commerce within a sliding scale market.

The husband (not pictured) came back three different times saying his bike wasn't clean enough.

Randall Scott's parents will be out of town on Friday 8/24 & Saturday 8/25, so we thought it would be a good idea to have our annual totally gnarly back to school party. Randall Scott/ BMoCA Art Exibit

Last Friday night The Randall Scott & Joyengine crew struck again - with a frame-painting-installation at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. These works were combined with a freestyle bike performance by Randall Scott’s own Akira Yasuda, and his trials team Ripstoke. DJ Joseph Newman ate any silence with a beat spinnin’ extravaganza that lasted throughout the night, bringing together a full spectrum of art and entertainment. The raffle for the frame was supposed to be rigged but due to a dyslexic announcer a fortunate attendant walked away with this painted Tommaso Aggraziato.

The bike and painting were a team effort by the likes of Lucian "small BUT dangerous" Foehr, Scot "FAIVES" Lefavor, Rob "Lifter Baron" Angermuller, Alex "JR" Henry, and T.B.

Friday Night Lites

On Friday evening come down to the Boulder Contemporary Museum of Art so you can see all of Randall Scott’s hard work come to life. The evening will start out with a freestyle bike trials performance by Randall Scott’s own Akira Yasuda with his team Ripstoke and will serve as the prologue for the evening to come. Amongst the walls of this quaint museum there will be bike frames, donated by Randall Scott, painted by local artists, (which include a Randall Scott employee) displayed throughout the museum. Towards the end of the evening there will be painted frame giveaway so you might walk away with the frame that signifies this innovative collaboration.

My First Wheelie…..

Yesterday was the inaugural installation of our “Beginner Riding Skills” Seminar. This was the second class in our Summer Semester Series and built upon the knowledge learned in the first, “Basic Bike Maintenance”.

This class was lead by Akira, a professional trials rider who works in our concept showroom, and was as big a hit as last week’s opener. This seminar was a little more interactive, as the students brought their bikes and gear to get feets on training at our facility.

Learning the basics of shifting, steering, balance and body position, the students enjoyed instruction from an elite cyclist for the price of free.

As we gain momentum, classes are getting booked quickly – but there’s still plenty of space left – so sign up for next weeks class, “Heart Rate Training for the Endurance Athlete”, as soon as possible.

Like a BLT with Peanut Butter, Randall Scott, Joyengine, and BMOCA are the Perfect Combo.

First of all, a BLT with peanut butter is amazing – you obviously leave out the mayonnaise, and a tall glass of chocolate milk is a must. If you try it and don’t like it, 100 free Randall Scott points are yours.

A couple weeks ago we attended a local art opening at the BMOCA (Boulder Museum Of Contemporary Art) which was featuring some work from our boys at Joyengine. Joyenegine are the guys who helped us tag our showroom and design our tee shirts. I’m not usually one who seeks out high culture, but it was a blast. We sipped some wine, talked about brush strokes, and decided we should team up with BMOCA and Joyengine on an art meets sport museum blowout.

On July 27th we’re having our own opening at BMOCA where we’ll have a performance put on by one of our employee’s team, RipStoke. This will consist of two 30 minutes trial performances done to music and lights.

We’ll also be having a silent auction for a bike frame painted by the artists at Joyengine, and feature our T-shirts with a presentation on the art process of silk screening.

There may even be another locally painted frame, as my roommate, who doubles as our Local Marketing Director, was an Arts and Crafts major at CU and has been sanding and painting a Huffy frame for the last month.
